Baby Shower Party Favors

So I am in love with the look of mercury glass.  So I thought how cute would it be for each guest to get a faux mercury glass votive for the baby shower.  I got the idea from Pinterest.  Check out one of the tutorials here.  It was rather simple.  I might do a few more  coats to make it more opague next time.  Here's what you need: spray bottle with water, paper tape and grocery bags, votives, and Krylon Looking Glass Spray.  Please note you will probably have to order the spray online, but I found the cheapest place to get it was Ace Harware and if you have one locally, they ship free to your store.  It was nearly half price compared to anywhere else.

 Any old glass will do

 After with a candle
 After without a candle

I can't wait to go to the local thift shop and get more glass!!!  If you are not a perfectionist, you really can't mess this up.

Instant Tiered Serving Dishes

So one of my close friends did a great job with one of these DIY serving trays using a candlestick to attach to dishes together, but I never got around to making one.  Needing serving dishes for my sister in law's baby shower this weekend, I not only made one, I made three.  Supplies: 2 different size dishes.  I got my at Marshall's, Epoxy, and a candlestick.  I am thinking about putting a little glass bowl in the center of the turtle shell bowl, so I can have chips and dip in the top tier and sandwiches on the bottom.

Super Easy Baby Shower Invite

I had big plans for making my sister in law's baby shower invitations, but the time got away from me.  Thank God for HP Photo Creations software that came free with our printer.  I wiped up this invitation in a few minutes and they loved it.
Stay tuned the rest of the week for the creations I made for the shower.  I am loving Pinterest!

Baby Shower Invitations

I got the special privilege to create one of my closest friends baby shower invitations.  I made two prototypes based on the info she gave me.  She is doing the baby's room in turquoise and gray in polka dot and chevron patterns.  Her mom is having everyone decorate onesie's at the shower.  With that info, I came up with two prototypes.  The first incorporated the onesie using the Wrap it up cricut cartridge and the cricut craft room to turn a onesie image into a card.
The second and the winner was a simple chevron card using Die-namics Chevron Stripes.   I used the Artiste Cartridge to cut the heart.  The stamp set is called Shower Time by Stampin Up.  I have to give a special shout out to my dear friend Tammy who assembled the card pieces while I cut all the chevron.  Thanks for cutting my crafting time in half.

Reese Peanut Butter Cookies!

I got this recipe from I heart naptime.  Of course I made the choice the day before Valentine's to make these cookies to send into school with the boys.  I had to go to 2 stores and I got the last to bags of Reese's Peanut Butter hearts.  It was well worth it.  Here's how they turned out.
They are not quite as pretty as hers, but they were delicious.  Check out her blog for the recipe.

School Valentine Ideas

Love is in the air.  Happy Valentine's Day to you all.  Hope you spend the day showing love and kindness to all you meet. I wanted to show you the awesome valentine's my boys made for school this year.  I found Rolan this printable from Dixie Delights.  I bought the markers from target in their dollar bins.  You got a pack of eight for a dollar.  I knew they were perfect for my second grader because they have a joke on them.  Here's how they turned out.

Then I couldn't wait to use the Whoo's your Valentine kit that was a special with Close to my Heart in January.  Here's how they turned out.

These kits are no longer available but easy to duplicate.  The box perfect for sticking a test tube in is cut from the Artiste Cartridge and then the test tubes and any other supplies you may need can be found in the catalog as well.  Start shopping now.  Stay tuned to tomorrow's post to see the sweet valentine treat I sent into school for the boys.  Yum!

Super Hero Birthday Party Invitation

Here is the simplest birthday party invitation I have every made.  It is a simple hills and valley fold card.  I used the CTMH retired Super Hero Paper Pack and the retired Super Powers Stamp set.  So if you have a little super hero like mine this would be a great invitation to try.  You simply cut your base 5.5 x 10 inches and score at 1.5,3,5, and 7 inches.  Then proceed to fold it making hills and valleys.  Here's how mine turned out.
